Pipeline was 4- to 6-feet this-morning, but reports from the West Side of Oahu, one hour away, warned of heavy lightning, thunder, rain and onshore winds that are headed for the Volcom Pipeline Pro. Contest Director Marty Thomas elected to pull the plug on the event for today (Hawaiian Local Time).
Â
"We've got a very straight 4- to 6-foot swell of short intervals, and winds will soon be onshore," said Thomas. "Off for the day."
Â
With 10 more days of the event period up their sleeves and plenty of swell on the way, competitors and officials were supportive of the call. This is Volcom's first ever ASP event and is a critical component of the 2010 ASP Hawaii season, offering valuable points towards World Tour qualification, as well as wildcard berths into the December Pipeline Masters.

Next call will commence on Monday, Jan 25 at 08:00 AM local time.
