11 times world champion Kelly Slater was less than impressed by the sad state of the natural landscape, taking to his Twitter to say: "If Bali doesn't do

something serious about this pollution it'll be impossible to surf here in a few years. Worst I've ever seen. I've never been so alarmed by pollution situation as this trip to Bali/Indo. We need solutions and multi-industry backing.”

Bali is a pure example of what happens when something expands so big and so quick without any thought for the day after. This beautiful island is swallowing itself up, as well as other areas like G-Land or Lombok. The local people throw all the rubbish in a dry river beds and when the rains arrive it washes it into the ocean. There are many explanations for the worsening of this situation, but a lack of education about its effect is the most visible justification for this subject.

The situation gets worse when the local fishermen and the ones from Java dumpr their rubbish overboard. As Kelly Slater says “plastic, random rubbish, medical waste/needles on beach. Disgusting. Smelly water. Really sad.”
