to the ASP World Championship Tour Schedule for the first time in five years.
In doing so, Volcom has teamed up with Sustainable Surf, an environmental company focused on the surf industry, to consult in the greening of the event, ensuring the Volcom Fiji Pro has taken the most mindful approach in preserving the delicate reef and wildlife while the ASP Top 34 take on two of the world’s most iconic lefthanders.
Sustainable Surf confirmed the Volcom Fiji Pro as a ‘Deep Blue Surfing Event,’ representing the highest mark in the greening of the fifth stop on the ASP WCT.
“This is a really important event for us and we are dedicated to doing it right across the board,” said Ryan Immegart, Volcom’s SVP of Marketing. “Sustainability is a top priority for the company, and the Volcom Fiji Pro is a perfect opportunity for us to take this focus to the next level.
Deep Blue Surfing™, our latest program here at Sustainable Surf, allows Sustainable Surf to efficiency work with surf brands to help them put on sustainable surfing events.
This program is designed as a compliment for our partnership with ASP -North America from earlier this year, which developed a set of voluntary green guidelines for surfing events.
Surfing contests that follow the recommendations of those green guidelines, can dramatically reduce the environmental impact of the event, while also boosting positive social benefits to the local environment and communities.
