The High Performance Centre at Casuarina Beach features a gymnasium, auditorium, accommodation and a quiver of boards from the world's best shapers.
Â
According to ABC, Surfing Australia CEO Andrew Stark says the centre is designed to maintain the nation's dominance in the sport internationally.
Â
"It is really the equivalent of the AIS and the AIS was certainly built many years ago to achieve gold medals in the Olympics," he said.
Â
"This centre is about it being pro-active in terms of building a facility that can give us a really strong competitive advantage on the world stage.
