After consultation and discussion with the Association of Surfing Professionals (ASP) and the World Professional Surfers (WPS), Billabong International announced that they had decided not to enter the Billabong Pro Mundaka in ASP World Tour in 2010 .
The last 10 years have shown that the Mundaka's waves were very dependent on the rare combinations of strong waves and a narrow tidal window. This situation causes difficulty to hold the competition in a normal waiting period.
Although Mundaka wave is exceptional in its good days, ten years' competitions have provided very little conditions and many rounds were held on the sites of decline. Billabong, the surfers and ASP wish to thank the authorities of Mundaka, Bakio, Sopelana, the entire region and its people for their support and loyalty.
There will be no progress Billabong Europe on the World Tour in 2010, the company is aiming to explore new opportunities in Europe for World Tour 2011.
