Lee was born in Jakarta, Indonesia to an Indonesian mum and Australian dad and you can see how the stark contrasts of his cultural background are reflected in Lee’s surfing.
With a repertoire of powerful moves that flow as cleanly as the brushstrokes in his artwork, Lee destroys waves with the finesse of a Balinese dancer.
Moving to Australia at 13 to complete school, Lee honed his skills in the competitive QLD surfing scene winning the State Scholastic Titles twice before returning to Bali in 2006 to pursue a freesurfing career.
It was not long before Lee cemented his reputation as one of the top free surfing and competitive acts in the region winning the Indonesian Surfing Championships in 2007 and again in 2009. His progressive power style has been noticed far beyond the boundaries on Indonesia- featuring prominently in Taylor Steele’s Stranger Than Fiction and Still Filthy.
