Lets start talking about your great start of 2017 year with the win at queensland wqs 1000. Your motivation levels raised to the highest level in that time correct? The surf conditions were perfect for your surfing?

I wanna tell you the truth. I have had a good start into 2017, but probably I was too focused on qualifying. I was very motivated at the beginning of the year and keen to go on contests. I loved that wave and the conditions at this time.

After some events you got semi finals at wqs 6000 chiba pro. Your ranking wqs position keep on higher than 2016. What did you feel in that time? You feel 2017 could be “your year”?

I felt good. I wasn't injured, I have had a good board, nice motivation and everything got my way. Ya I thought that 2017 could have been my year to qualify.

Then the injury happened, can you talk about that? When did that injure happened and why?

I was competing in South africa for 3.000 P in Durbin, I did a floater and than I buckelt my big toe. And I thought I was going to be out of the water for two month. But I ended up being injured for 6 month. I'm still recovering right now. This been holding my ranking in 2017. But being injured was a big part of it too, because I learned how to be patient and read the situation.

Now talking about the support you feel when you spend most part of the year travelling and challenging your self, who are your most important supporters?

My main Supporter is Rip Curl, my sponsor. And my friend mark Gilmore. He gave me his staff travel, as he is a pilot and I could join so many contests and was able to travel this much the past year.

How does your family react to your life as a professional surfer?

They are really into it now, as I been traveling this much the past year they realised what a big part surfing is in my life and what it means to me to be a professional surfer.

We saw that even injured your average heat score was quite high this 2017, so means you are a consistent surfer, a major caractristic of a surfer that want to get into the wsl elite. 2018 will be your year?

This year was a big learning year. I hope that 2018 is a better year for me, without big injuries. I keep doing what I love and keep focusing on the qualifying.

Any message you want to leave here?

I wanna thank my Family n Fan's n Friends for their support, and also my Sponsors for all their support and trust in my surfing. terima kasih banyak
