RIP CURL CUP Padang Padang called off for today

The Rip Curl Cup Padang Padang has been called off for today in hopes of larger surf tomorrow.

The Rip Curl Cup Padang Padang remains on High Alert, but has been called off for today in hopes of larger surf tomorrow. Next competition call will be made Friday, July 28 at 6:30 AM local time for a potential 7 AM start to Round 1.

Wave conditions at Padang on Thursday afternoon remained inconsistent and well below the size and quality standards required to hold the Rip Curl Cup. Surfline, the official event forecaster of the Rip Curl Cup, is predicting the current SW swell hitting Bali will peak late tonight and hold steady through Friday. According to the latest event forecast: “Expect double overhead-plus sets on Friday at Padang (8-12' faces), with occasional larger waves during the better tide windows.”

Contest directors are monitoring conditions at Padang closely and have targeted the favourable low tide early Friday morning for a potential start to the competition. The 16 invited surfers in the 2017 Rip Curl Cup are all currently in Bali and are standing by for a potential Friday morning start to Round 1 at 7 AM.
