Medina celebrating on the walls of Trestles, by the hands of artist BERT.
On a day that marks the kick off of competition at Trestles - with the women’s WCT event already underway, we show BERT’s latest creation.
The street artist, that has been spreading surf and color all over the world told SurfTotal about his latest work, inspired by Billabong Pro Tahiti’s winner, brazilian Gabriel Medina.
“I’d like to share with you my newest piece titled 'The Creation of a Teahuppo Champ' installed on the freeway underpass at Trestles in San Clemente.
The piece celebrates Gabriel Medina's win at Teahupoo and is inspired by a conversation he and his mother had prior to the final with Kelly Slater. His mother told him "there is no one bigger than God."
The artwork is based off Michelangelo's 'The Creation of Adam' painted on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel in Rome.
Hope you are stoked!”
